Tapping the potential advantages of supply sources in emerging economies has become an ever more important element of international procurement strategies across industries. However, Western companies face very dynamic and complex business conditions in emerging economies, which creates a wide range of management and configuration challenges. This book explores the configuration of procurement activities of Western manufacturing companies in emerging supply markets by using the example of the People’s Republic of China. Based on empirical case study research among 22 Western manufacturers this book summarizes the results out of a research project conducted at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and contributes to the growing body of research on emerging market strategies.
