Co-Channel Interference (CCI) cancellation is a major problem in nowadays communication systems. It arises whenever multiple users transmit with spectral and temporal overlap. This dissertation addresses in particular how CCI can be avoided in network planning, mitigated by intelligent waveform design and cancelled by state-of-the art interference cancellation techniques. The focus is on CCI cancellation. Chapter 1: Introduction Chapter 2: CCI cancellation for TDMA systems Chapter 3: State of the Art CCI cancellation for TDMA systems Chapter 4: CCI cancellation and Multi-User Detection (MUD) for CDMA Chapter 5: MIMO: Spatial CCI cancellation and spatial multiplexing Chapter 6: MIMO: Spatio-temporal CCI cancellation and spatio-temporal multiplexing Chapter 7: Conclusions
