Here is a mesmerising and heart-breaking tale told by a daughter to her departed mother. When Rindala's beloved Lebanon is seized in the clutches of war, she, along with her family, move to Canada to escape what would surely be death as a victim of war. Rindala never knew her mother when she lived in her hometown; she only saw her in photographs here and there in her house - in photo frames on the wall or in one of the boxes as their lives were being packed into cartons. But it is when she moves to Montreal and Boston that she begins to find more concrete traces of her mother; in her growing self, in a beige box containing a little jewellery box that once belonged to her mother and through the sculptor Kahlil Gibran. Thus, Rindala renews the ties she lost to her country and her mother.
