EEG often plays a less important role in the differential diagnosis of cerebral seizure disorders than it used to do. Imaging procedures have come to overshadow it completely in many cases. In view of the current literature on the EEG in epilepsy, this shift in diagnostic priorities may be partly justified, at least as far as adults are concerned.
