This volume presents edited lectures and selected research contributions from the NATO Advanced Study Institute on Advances in Fatigue Science and Technology, held in Alvor, Portugal, from April 4 to 15, 1988. Organized by CEMUL at the Technical University of Lisbon, the event gathered 101 participants, including 15 lecturers from 14 countries, consisting of leading scientists, engineers, and Ph.D. students. Participants shared their research findings, engaging in extensive discussions on scientific aspects throughout the sessions.
