This book describes methods used in different European countries to counteract violence against women. Operation Kvinnofrid International is a transnational action and information project. The overall aim of the project is to disseminate information, increase awareness of violence against women and actively try to put a stop to the violence. The project's objectives are to spread knowledge of and exchange experiences concerning methods of counteracting violence against women; to develop transnational methods and establish a transnational network of experts on issues related to violence against women and to increase the co-operation and joint actions between public authorities. Operation Kvinnofrid International is a collaboration between Stockholm County Administrative Board, City of Stockholm, Stockholm County Police Authority and Stockholm County Council in co-operation with The Turku Centre for Women, Alands Landskapsstyrelse, La Luna and South Birmingham College. Operation Kvinnofrid International is co-financed by the European Commission medium-term community action programme on equal opportunities for men and women (1996-2000).
