Erica Fischer wurde als Tochter von Emigranten in England geboren, die 1948 nach Wien zurückkehrten. Dort studierte sie Sprachen, wurde zu einer der Gründerinnen der österreichischen Frauenbewegung und arbeitete als Journalistin. Heute lebt Erica Fischer als freie Schriftstellerin und Übersetzerin in Berlin. Ihre dokumentarische Erzählung „Aimée & Jaguar“ (1994) wurde ein Bestseller, sie ist mitlerweile in zwanzig Sprachen übersetzt. Zuletzt erschienen „Himmelstraße“ (2007) und „Mein Erzengel“ (2010).
