Koyuki und Konatsu haben dem Schulfest entgegengefiebert, weil sie dort erstmals ihre Makrelen-Show aufführen wollen, für die sie lange gemeinsam geprobt haben. Doch kurz vor dem Fest wird Koyuki krank. Nun muss Konatsu sich allein der großen Aufgabe stellen. Sie tut dies nicht zuletzt für ihre Freundin, und das gibt ihr Kraft ...
Während des Tags der offenen Tür des Aquariums gelingt es Koyuki, ein Kunststück mit ihrem Hai vorzuführen, und sie jubelt laut auf. Erschrocken über ihr eigenes Verhalten läuft sie davon. Konatsu folgt ihr und begegnet ihr mit vollstem Verständnis, doch Koyuki hat das Gefühl, dass keiner sie versteht.
Koyuki ist einsam, weil alle sie als unerreichbare Blume betrachten. Nur die neue Schülerin Konatsu begegnet ihr völlig unbefangen und langsam öffnet Koyuki sich ihr. Auch Konatsu sehnt sich nach Koyuki, weil die sie so akzeptiert, wie sie ist. Gemeinsam verbringen die beiden ihre Tage in der Meeres-AG. Welche schönen Stunden werden sie dort noch erleben?
Noch immer sind Koyuki und Konatsu die einzigen beiden Mitglieder der Meeres-AG. Konatsu ist einsam, aber in Koyuki hat sie eine Gefährtin gefunden. Doch weil diese bald den Abschluss machen und die AG für immer verlassen wird, blickt Konatsu voller Angst in die Zukunft.
Die elfte Klasse trifft sich am Schuljahresende zum Feiern. Dabei beginnt sich Koyuki langsam auch anderen Menschen gegenüber zu öffnen. Doch das wiederum löst in Konatsu ein Gefühl von Einsamkeit und Traurigkeit aus, welches sie bisher nicht gekannt hatte …
Der Sommer steht vor der Tür und somit auch die Prüfungsvorbereitungen für die Universität. Trotzdem findet Koyuki Zeit, Konatsu für einen Abend mit an den Strand zu nehmen. Dort will Koyuki ihr ihren finalen Entschluss mitteilen. Als sie diesen hört, hat Konatsu nur eine einzige Bitte.
Der Herbst steht vor der Tür. Viele Dinge verändern sich. Koyuki macht ihren Schulabschluss und auch das Nanahama-Schulfest findet wieder statt. Werden Konatsu und Koyuki endlich ihre Gefühle füreinander aussprechen können, oder hat die Geschichte vom einsamen Salamander kein Happy End?
