Sprichwörter seien wie „Weltenbürger“, da sie überall zu finden sind. Wolfgang Mieder hebt in seinem Vorwort die Leistung Ida von Düringsfelds hervor, für fast 400 deutsche Sprichwörter die (nicht nur) europäischen Entsprechungen zu finden und zu sammeln.****************Ida and Otto Düringsfeld became famous in the 19th century for their research into proverbs. Ida von Düringsfeld (1815-1876) successfully proved the comparative nature of proverbs in the volume Das Sprichwort als Kosmopolit which contains the collections “Das Sprichwort als Praktikus” und “Das Sprichwort als Humorist”. Proverbs are “world citizens” for they can be found everywhere. In his introduction Wolfgang Mieder emphasises Ida von Düringsfeld’s achievement in finding and bringing together the European (and other) equivalents of nearly 400 German proverbs.
