Obwohl noch ganz im Zeichen der Romantik stehend, weist Lermontows Lyrik bereits deutlich auf den französischen Symbolismus eines Baudelaire oder Verlaine voraus. Sämtliche Gedichte wurden meisterlich neu übersetzt von Eric Boerner (* 1965).
