Die Prophezeiungen des Nostradamus beginnen mit dem Jahre 1555. Sie erstrecken sich über 23 Jahrhunderte und enthalten eine fortlaufende Geschichtsschreibung bis zum Jahre 3797 n. Chr. Michel Nostradamus, eigentlich Michel de Notredame, wurde am 14. Dezember 1503 in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence geboren. Arzt von Beruf wurde er jedoch noch zu Lebzeiten berühmt für seine Prophezeiungen. Typische Merkmale seiner Voraussagen sind das fast vollständige Fehlen von konkreten Zeitangaben und Namen und eine sehr metaphorische Sprache, die die Prophezeiungen bis in unsere Zeit rätselhaft erscheinen lassen. Das hier vorliegende Werk, es basiert auf der den Originalschriften des Nostradamus aus dem Jahre 1558 am nächsten kommenden 1668 von Jean Ribon verlegten und um die späten Schriften erweiterten Pariser Ausgabe, liefert einen umfassenden Überblick über die wichtigsten Prophezeiungen des berühmten Sehers, die den Ruhm des Nostradamus begründet haben.

Knut Boeser, Dr. phil., geboren 1944, studierte in Berlin und Paris Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft und Philosophie, lebte dann in Berlin und Wien als freier Schriftsteller, wurde zunächst Chefdramaturg, dann Intendant am Renaissance-Theater Berlin, danach Chefdramaturg an den Staatlichen Schauspielbühnen Berlin; er gab Bücher über Max Reinhardt, Erwin Piscator und Oskar Panizza heraus; lebt heute als freier Schriftsteller in Berlin und schreibt Theaterstücke, Drehbücher, Essays und Prosa.
