As part of documenta fifteen, ruangrupa in Indonesia is publishing two issues of a magazine, 'majalah' that hones in on the core idea of the exhibition: collective working. The 'lumbung' component in the title refers to the communal rice barn where Indonesian farmers store surplus crops to share. The two issues, Harvesting and Sharing, will be published together in one volume to accompany the exhibition. With short stories and features by leading journalists, researchers, and writers from Indonesia, 'majalah lumbung' touches on topics such as cosmology or architecture, food or eating together, thereby forming a foundation for the content featured at documenta fifteen. The individual contributions are conveyed through numerous illustrations and an attractive layout in magazine quality.

Unter dem Leitgedanken des lumbung geht es dem indonesischen Kollektiv ruangrupa weniger um Einzelwerke als um Formen gemeinschaftlichen Arbeitens. Das Handbuch bietet als Nachschlagewerk, Begleiter und innovativer Kunstführer Orientierung für diese umfassenden Prozesse; es richtet sich ebenso an Besucher*innen der Ausstellung in Kassel wie an Menschen, die sich für kollektive Praxis interessieren. Alle Akteur*innen der documenta fifteen werden mit ihrer Arbeit von internationalen Autor*innen vorgestellt, die mit der jeweiligen künstlerischen Praxis und dem kulturellen Kontext vertraut sind. Unter dem Titel „lumbung“ führt das Buch in die Denkweise und die kulturellen Hintergründe der documenta fifteen ein und verdeutlicht mit zahlreichen Zeichnungen die künstlerischen Arbeitsprozesse. Ein Kapitel über Kassel zeigt und erläutert alle Standorte der Schau, inklusive der hier vertretenen Künstler*innen und Kollektive.

Inspiriert von Touren in Reiseführern oder Vermittlungsangeboten in öffentlichen Museen bietet Gehen, Finden, Teilen Kindern und Familien, aber auch Comic-Fans und erfahrenen Ausstellungsbesucher*innen alternative Perspektiven auf die documenta fifteen.
