Die hier in deutscher Sprache veröffentlichte "Gatha" ist die Grundlage der Philosophie des Zarathustra. Obgleich Zarathustra erst durch F. W. Nietzsche und Richard Strauss bekannt wurde, hat der "literarische Zarathustra" Nietzsches nichts mit der historischen Philosophie des Zarathustra gemeinsam. Die historisch, monotheistische Philosophie basiert vielmehr auf Ahura Mazda als dem Ursprung des Seins. Die Besonderheit dieser Philosophie ist dabei das unabdingbare Primat streng logischer Naturgesetze (Asha). Zu dieser Philosophie gehört hauptsächlich "Gut denken" (Weisheit), "gut reden" (Wahrhaftigkeit) und "gut tun", was nach Zarathustra die Grundlage menschlichen Verhaltens sein sollte.Diese originäre Philosophie wurde leider später von sogenannten Zarathustra Klerikern aus Eigennutz mit eigenen Texten (Avesta) modifiziert und erweitert.
