      Inez Haynes Irwin was a prominent American feminist author and journalist, known for her active role in the suffragist movement and her leadership in the National Women's Party. Under her previous name, Inez Haynes Gillmore, she authored over 40 books. Despite her bold contributions to feminism, she described herself as timid. Irwin's friendship with fellow feminist Mary MacLane highlighted her vibrant personality, which MacLane captured in newspaper articles in 1910.
