Catherine Morris Bücher

In the summer 2020, Catherine Morris and Tim Maul agreed to develop a writing project around a set of 35mm slides he had gifted her from his 1994 commission with the National Library of Ireland. They wanted to attempt an image/writing exchange outside of the positivist "creative" busywork that appeared early in the ongoing pandemic.

This text explores the art of Cindy Sherman, which unravels notions feminity, the body and sexuality. She photographs herself in such roles as Hollywood heroine, fashion model and art historical subject. Other work explores subjects such as fake body parts and horror scenes.
