Was dabei herausgekommen ist, ist ethnologisch und soziokulturell hochinteressant: was ist wo verboten und wie wird das vermittelt? Viele Verbote und Hinweise sind global oft dieselben, werden aber in der Gestaltung unterschiedlich interpretiert und verraten damit ungemein viel über die kulturellen und gesellschaftlichen Gegebenheiten eines Kulturkreises. Objects in the categories, food, fashion, animals, body, soul, and leisure, garner a color photograph and a page of descriptive text in French and English. The appendix shows where some of these objects can be found and provides related information as well. Many objects have accompanying text with a slant. For example, with a photograph of a bottle of strawberry flavored Sunny Delight "fruit" drink is: "Sunny Delight" is promoted "as a healthy alternative to soft drinks. Yet UK food experts say the image is a con. The drink is only 5 percent fruit juice--the rest is sugar, water, and additives." A sampling includes liquid latex applied to the skin that dries within minutes, a halved potato strapped to the knee overnight to cause swelling--water inside human cells moves toward the potato--so that members of the Israeli Defense Force can get a few days sick leave, and the Prayer Sprayer house deodorant that works best when followed up by saying a prayer printed on the can.
