This exciting book has been heralded as the finest visual record of British Tramways ever published. Recognising the depth and content of Henry Priestley's photography, Colin Garratt embarked on the task of collating a representative example of his work embracing the whole of Britain. This was done in conjunction with the National Tramway Museum in Crich, Derbyshire where Henry Priestley's tramway legacy is being conserved.During the spring of 1995, when the final stages of this book were in production, Colin Garratt undertook a series of recorded interviews with Henry Priestley. These have proved a fascinating insight into the remarkable career of this little known photographer whose creative work has spanned a period of over 75 years. The originals of these tapes are now also held at the National Tramway Museum. It is with great pride that Milepost presents this book which along with a new volume on the railway legacy of the Rev. A.W.V. Mace, is the first to be produced by the newly formed publishing division of Milepost 92.
