Hlavním hrdinou knihy je Timmy Nezdárek – zakladatel, prezident a generální ředitel nejlepší detektivní agentury ve městě, nejspíš v celém státě a možná i na světě. Určitě to nepotrvá dlouho a promění svoji firmu v celosvětové impérium, díky němuž zbohatne natolik, že už si máma nikdy nebude muset dělat starosti s placením účtů. Zatím brázdí na svém Nezdárkoletu – mámině elektrické dvoukolce – ulice města a řeší ty nejzapeklitější zločiny a záhady. Při tom mu (nepříliš zdatně) pomáhá jeho obchodní partner, obrovitý, ovšem taky neuvěřitelně líný lední medvěd jménem Kapitán, a také kamarád Koblížek, který je ovšem natolik posedlý studiem, že občas nezvládá úplně jednoduché špionážní úkoly. Jediným trnem v oku je Timmymu jistá metr dvacet vysoká osoba ženského pohlaví, jejíž jméno nesmí být vysloveno, majitelka konkurenční detektivní agentury.
