Before this revised 2017 edition, the first edition of The Miami Showband Massacre, published in 2007 was the long awaited inside story of the band, the massacre and its controversial aftermath. The atrocity was headlined all over Ireland and beyond as The Day The Music Died as The Miami Showband was the most popular band in Ireland at the time. On July 31st 1975 their mini bus was stopped by what looked like a British Army patrol but was in fact the Loyalist terrorist group's UVF's notorious Glenanne Gang, some of whom were in the British Army's locally recruited UDR regiment. The terrorists planted a bomb in the mini bush which exploded prematurely killing two of the bombers immediately. Their comrades then machine gunned the band, killing three and leaving the author, seriously injured Stephen Travers, to play dead in order to survive. Since publication much more of the Collusion between the UVF gang responsible and the British Military Intelligence has come to light and this 2017 edition includes pertinent revelations regarding Collusion, elements of which are now being exposed.

On Valentine's Day 1981, over 800 young people gathered at the 'Stardust' disco in Dublin, but forty-eight tragically lost their lives in a devastating fire, with many others suffering severe injuries. The emotional toll of loss and grief would haunt hundreds for life. In the aftermath, politicians expressed their sorrow and initiated a comprehensive investigation, which revealed that the disco's owners had shown "reckless disregard" for safety. However, no charges were filed against them, and they even received significant damages for the destruction of the club. Victims and their families have long contended that the inquiry was insufficient. Key questions remain: What caused the rapid spread of the flames? Were fire exits secured? Why were there bars on restroom windows? Despite multiple inspections by Dublin Corporation, the owners evaded accountability for numerous safety violations. As the twenty-first anniversary of the tragedy approaches, new evidence challenges the original conclusion of "probable" arson. The narrative also highlights the forgotten victims, as families and survivors candidly recount their prolonged quest for justice, including a father's desperate attempt for revenge after losing his two daughters, illustrating the helplessness faced against bureaucratic indifference.
