Music in Prespective is a basic introductory text that focuses on musical styles and structures. It is designed for college students who are taking music as an elective subject; it pre-supposes a lively curiosity but it does not assume prior study in music. Emphasis throughout the book is on aural perception. Musical concerts are explained in terms of what inexperienced listeners can hear fairly easily, and notation has been omitted as unnecessary to this approach.
