Doch zugleich spüren einige Menschen, dass sie plötzlich über ungeahnte, seltsame psychische Kräfte verfügen. Diese Erscheinungen hängen alle offenbar mit einer gewaltigen Explosion im All zusammen, bei der ein bisher unter dem Namen Briareus Delta bekannter Stern zur Supernova geworden ist und trotz seiner Entfernung von 130 Lichtjahren die Erde mit seiner Strahlung verseucht.
