Since 1978, annual Interdisciplinary Cancer Research Workshops have been held at the University of New Orleans. In 1987 it seemed appropriate to consider an extended publication that would mark the completion of the first decade of these meetings. This volume is the result. A number of the distinguished researchers who participated in the first ten workshops have contributed chapters summarizing their current work in the area of chemical carcinogenesis. These contributions cover a wide range of topics, are particularly up-to-date, and reflect a consistently high level of scientific investigation which will both inform and stimulate all those currently active in - or entering some area of - cancer research.
