There are far fewer employment options open to you when you can't see. It's not like I could have got a job in a pub. I would have broken more glasses than my wages could cover. Stocking shelves in a supermarket? A health and safety nightmare. Behind the till in a newsagent's? A shoplifter's dream! Delivery driver? The death toll would be staggering.
