This work offers essential corrections to the original citations, spellings, authorships, publication dates, and type species designations for several genus-group names of Geadephaga found in the world catalogue by Lorenz (1998). It includes a list of unjustified emendations in Appendix 1 and incorrect subsequent spellings in Appendix 2. New replacement names proposed are: Abrodiella (for Abrodiaeta Péringuey, 1896), Agonops (for Agonopsis Semenov, 1889), Bohemaniella (for Bohemannia or Bohemania Putzeys, 1861), Deipyrodes (for Deipyrus Liebke, 1938), Gnopheroides (for Gnopherus Andrewes, 1940), Harpalodiodes (for Harpalodes Basilewsky, 1951), Eujalmenus (for Jalmenus Liebke, 1935), Platycymindis (for Pseudocymindis Habu, 1967), Pseudomastinus (for Pseudomastus Emetz, 1972), Pyramoides (for Pyramis Putzeys, 1846), Stricklandiana (for Stricklandia W. J. MacLeay, 1886), and Wahlbergiana (for Wahlbergia Tschitschérine, 1896). Additionally, new synonymies are introduced, type species are designated, and valid names are listed. To maintain current usage of several names, submissions to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature were necessary.
