V oslnivě produktivní badatelské kariéře PETERA DRONKA (1934–2020), britského filologa německého původu, vznikaly dantovské publikace takřka jen příležitostně: náš svazek – jehož základem je monografie Tradice latinského písemnictví a Dantova Komedie z roku 1986 – shromažďuje v zásadě vše, co Dronke v rozmezí let 1966–2015 k Dantově Komedii napsal. Jeho dantovské interpretace spojují suverénní znalost staršího evropského písemnictví s citem pro básnickou svébytnost Dantovy Komedie a s formulační elegancí, jež přitom nikdy nejde na úkor přesnosti.
