Traces the life and discusses the work of the German Jewish poet Gertrud Kolmar (Chodziesner), including the poetry she wrote at the beginning of the Nazi period in which she identifies with the suffering of her people and of the other victims of Nazism. Describes the impoverishment of her family, and her forced labor in the war industry until her deportation to Auschwitz in March 1943.
