When Ben moves to a new house with his mum, he is sure he will have a miserable time there. But then he finds a small mouse called Alfred behind a loose brick in his bedroom. The two become great friends and Alfred takes up residence in Ben's pocket. Except sometimes he escapes and causes havoc.

Each treasury is illustrated with black-and-white line drawings and is perfectly targeted to its young audience, offering a mix of contemporary tales from such notable authors as Margaret Mahy and Ted Hughes.
