The study examines highly skilled migrants, specifically Swiss in Israel and Israelis in Switzerland, focusing on the role of migration in (multi-sited) biographies. Analyzing twelve main protagonists, Hélène Mona Oberlé explores their perceptions, interpretations, and emotional experiences within migration narratives. Three central themes emerge: first, feelings of (non-)belonging to places and groups; second, the interplay of past, present, and future characterized by nostalgia, irritation, and expectation; and third, the concept of “going abroad” as a sense of accomplishment reflected in their stories.
