Set in 1953 Los Angeles, the story follows British journalist John Russell, who enjoys a comfortable life with his wife, Effi, and their adopted daughter, Rosa. As he investigates American companies' ties to Nazi Germany, he becomes aware of being followed, raising suspicions about his past as a double-agent.
