Eine „typische“ Geisterhaus-Geschichte sollte man sich hier nicht erwartet. Dieses Buch ist nämlich erfrischend anders erzählt. Margaret ist ein sehr interessanter Charakter. Aus Liebe zu ihrem Haus nimmt sie die verrücktesten Spukphänomene in Kauf und versucht sich mit allem zu arrangieren. Aber warum eigentlich? Wäre es nicht leichter das Haus einfach zu verlassen? Tja, genau das ist die große Frage, die einen beim Lesen immer wieder beschäftigt Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist toll und sehr bildhaft. Besonders die Geschichte zum Haus selbst fand ich interessant! Manche Kapitel waren sehr ausschweifend und detailliert beschrieben, sodass die Spannung etwas abgeflaut ist. Vermutlich wollte die Autorin dadurch eine gewisse Atmosphäre kreieren - was sie zwar durchaus geschafft hat - aber für meinen Geschmack hätte etwas mehr Tempo trotzdem nicht geschadet. Auf den letzten 100 Seiten hat das Buch nochmal richtig an Fahrt aufgenommen und die Spannung wurde konstant gehalten. Das Ende hat mich dann auch wirklich überraschen können. Fazit: „Das Septemberhaus“ ist eine originelle Geisterhaus-Geschichte, bei der man das Genre nochmal auf eine neue Art erlebt! Die Story ist gut durchdacht und größtenteils sehr atmosphärisch. Von der Spannung und vom Grusel her hätte ich mir im Mittelteil etwas mehr gewünscht. Eine Leseempfehlung gibt‘s auf jeden Fall für alle Geister- und Spukhaus-Fans
