The 2nd INTECOL Wetland Conference, organized by the Institute of Botany, Czechoslovak Academy of Science, took place in Trebon, Czechoslovakia from June 13 to 23, 1984. This Proceedings focuses on the adaptations and ecophysiology of wetland plants, featuring invited papers and selected posters that encompass the theme. Given the long-standing tradition of hydrobotanical research at the Trebon department, one entire session was dedicated to ecophysiological studies, which are crucial for effective wetland management and conservation. These papers fostered discussions among wetland scientists globally. The organizers aimed to invite speakers with expertise in areas ranging from population dynamics to the ecophysiology of wetland plants, allowing for a comprehensive examination of the main variables influencing wetland ecosystems. By integrating these topics into a single session, the Proceedings offer a clearer understanding of their interactions and contributions to wetland character and stability. The conference participants unanimously expressed the need for further research and conservation of wetlands, highlighting their vital role in the biosphere.
