Die anlässlich ihres 80. Geburtstags erscheinende Publikation präsentiert eine charakteristische Auswahl der letzten 60 Jahre ihres Schaffens und beleuchtet so die mediale Vielfalt im Werk der Künstlerin sowie die zentralen Themen ihres OEuvres. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit liegt auf den Arbeiten aus den 1960er- und 70er-Jahren, ihrem Einfluss auf Fluxus-Bewegung, Konzept- und Performancekunst, Environments, Film und Musik sowie ihrem Einsatz für den Frieden. Letos uplyne 70 let od narození a 30 let od úmrtí Johna Lennona – muzikanta, umělce, spisovatele, zakladatele a vůdčí osobnosti skupiny The Beatles. Lennon je jednou z významných osobností světové kultury a výrazně se angažoval také v politice. Díky své slávě se stal jednou z nejfotografovanějších postav 20. stol. Fotografie v této knize zachycují mnoho událostí a významných okamžiků Lennonova života – dětství a dospívání, které prožil v Liverpoolu, období slávy s Beatles i seznámení s Yoko Ono a jeho politickou aktivitu. Yoko Onos großes, weitgehend unbekanntes Zeichnungskonvolut „Franklin Summer“, Inkblot-Arbeiten in stets gleichgroßem Format, von denen Ono seit 1994 mehr als 1.400 Beispiele geschaffen hat, wird mit rund einhundert von der Künstlerin ausgewählten Werken erstmals publiziert. Mit „Vertical Memory“ von 1997 erscheint Onos 21-teilige konzeptuelle Fotografie aus einem verzerrten Gesicht, das ihrem Vater gilt. Mit dem Werk manifestiert Yoko Ono ihre Lebensgeschichte. Drei historische Partituren aus ihrem Künstlerbuch „Grapefruit“ von 1964, es sind „Drinking Piece for Orchestra“, „Bicycle Piece for Orchestra“ und „Painting to Be Slept On“, werden erstmals hier gezeigt.
