August Šenoa, der als Vater des kroatischen Romans gilt, war eine Übergangsfigur, die die kroatische Literatur von der Romantik zum Realismus führte. Er verband meisterhaft nationalen Romantismus mit realistischer Darstellung des aufstrebenden Kleinbürgertums. Die Pandemie 2020 brachte Unsicherheit und ließ vergangene Texte neu aufleben. Der Autor bittet um die Übersetzung von August Šenoas Poem „Kugina kuća – Das Haus der Pest“, das 1869 veröffentlicht wurde und heute aktueller denn je erscheint.
