This issue discusses some of the most important aspects of the pathophysiology of this virus. Since the identification of two sequences from KSHV, we have learned much about this pathogen as reflected in this book. KSHV itself encodes for a number of cytokines, and induces cellular cytokine secretion, contributing to tumor growth. KSHV continues to elucidate both mechanisms of viral oncogenesis, and cellular and immune pathways involved in non-viral driven neoplasia. We bring together here various experts in their respective fields, addressing some key aspects of KSHV biology, and we are grateful for their contributions
