Edward Nares, der Autor dieses wundervollen Buches, war ein englischer Historiker, Theologe und Schriftsteller. Nares lebte von 1762 bis 1841. Das vorliegende Werk ist die deutsche Übersetzung seines Titels "Thinks I to myself" aus dem Jahr 1811. Geschrieben mit dem typischen englischen Charakter, der mehr durch Feinheit und Laune den Verstand und die Fantasie erregt, als durch eine Reihe wechselnder Bilder.
