The selection criteria focused on works belonging to the realm of fiction, excluding autobiographical writings and other texts where Kafka addresses personal situations from a non-literary perspective. This carefully prepared edition reflects a recent trend in German-speaking countries to publish Kafka's manuscripts in facsimile, presenting a chronological arrangement that showcases the creative evolution of this 20th-century classic.
