Die Tiere in den Fabeln Aesops reden so eitel und beschränkt daher wie manche Menschen und sind genauso gierig und stolz wie sie. Mnohdy sa objavujú aj skutoční ľudia a postavy gréckych bohov, častý je dialóg, ktorý dáva bajkám spád, posilňuje dramatičnosť a dynamiku príbehov. Každá bajka obsahuje na konci väčšinou didaktické poučenie. Ezopova tvorba sa stala postupom času známou po celom svete (napr. O silnom lve, O pyšnom orle, O chytrej líške a iné).

Kniha obsahuje několik poučných příběhů o zvířátkách. Jsou vyprávěny jednoduchým a srozumitelným stylem, takže jim porozumí i ty nejmenší děti. Navíc je text psán velkými písmeny, která jsou vhodná i pro začínající čtenáře.
