Hans Kohn

    15. September 1891 – 16. März 1971

    Hans Kohn wurde 1891 in Prag geboren und wuchs in der Dämmerung des Habsburgerreichs auf. Er erlebte den Ersten Weltkrieg und verbrachte fünf Jahre als Kriegsgefangener in Russland. Nach über einem Jahrzehnt in London, Paris und Jerusalem kam er 1933 nach Amerika. Die folgenden 27 Jahre verbrachte er als Geschichtsprofessor am Smith College und am City College of New York. Sein Leben spiegelt die bewegten historischen Umwälzungen des 20. Jahrhunderts wider.
