This volume compiles selected papers from lectures at the School on Fuzzy Logic and Soft Computing, held from 1996 to 1999 and sponsored by Salerno University. The contributing authors expanded and rethought their original lectures to provide a more concise presentation of their topics. The aim is to showcase the ongoing efforts in establishing and developing techniques in soft computing. The papers report on recent findings that emphasize the logical aspects of fuzzy logic, covering topics such as algebraic aspects of Lukasiewicz Logic, fuzzy logic as the logic of continuous t-norms, and Intuitionistic Fuzzy Logic.
