Over the past four decades, Richard Artschwager has produced a body of work that could not be more varied in form. Unconventional and unpredictable, it is often difficult to say whether a given work is a painting, sculpture, or furniture, so much so that the American conceptual artist is regarded as the inventor of "furniture sculpture." Presented here are his furniture-like pieces, paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installations--sometimes these are components of just one of the many works featured. Interspersed with the works is a series of 5 essays.
