In chronological order with former books on elementary number theory, tbis eighth text is a basic treatment of topological methods in number theory. The book is dedicated to the memory of August Ferdinand Möbius, whose ideas led to modern topology, and to Arthur Moritz Schoenflies, who found separately from Evgraph Stepanovich Fedorov the 230 3-dimensional space groups. In 11 chapters, after a short bistory of topology and an introduction, geometry and topology, symmetry and topology, topological Bravais lattices, rational points of functions, nets and number theory, geometrical constructions, algebraic and transcendental numbers, a choice of topological definitions and theorems, elliptic functions (curves), and number theoretic functions are discussed. The book is written in English language for a1l who are interested in mathematics and may serve as a link between school and graduate university mathematics.
