The Chilean and Magellanic nudipleuran fauna was in extreme taxonomic confusion and has been significally neglected lasting recent decades. Within the framework of this book a comprehensive revision was made on the basis of more than 2000 recently collected specimens which were investigated externally, anatomically and, when necessary, by histological and ultrastructural means. In addition, all relevant type and museum material was re-examined. Of 108 species of the Nudipleura reported from Chile and the Magellanic region, only 65 are considered to be valid herein. Of these 65 species, 44 were found when making collections for this study. Of these 13 species were undescribed, and 2 species were new records for the southern hemisphere.
