The Koran from a vernacular perspective
Autoren
Mehr zum Buch
This monograph on Koranic semantics re-investigates the Koran’s lexicography, grammar and rhetoric. Although this work considers the body of literature that has accompanied the scripture throughout its history, and deals with the linguistics of several hermeneutical aspects in Islam, Christianity and Judaism—especially involving the etymology of the names of God in the ancient Semitic languages, and with monotheism and the general development of religion—, it reflects and contemplates neither theology nor doctrine of the Koran or the Bible, Old and New Testament. Arabic and Hebrew are shown next to every translation in order to permit the readers to follow the discussion in the original language in case they know it.
