Web information systems are essential in today's IT architectures, serving as knowledge management portals, intranets, and wikis designed to meet users' information needs efficiently. However, the sheer volume of information and complex problem situations make information retrieval increasingly challenging, time-consuming, and costly. The development of these systems requires a dual focus on both technical and conceptual aspects to create effective solutions. Conceptual modeling of navigation structures serves as a tool to clarify and discuss how users can find relevant information within extensive data environments. Christian Stephan Brelage addresses the challenges of human information processing in web information systems and proposes a modeling approach and conceptual framework for designing navigation structures. These contributions aim to enhance the development of web information systems in both theoretical and practical contexts. This work is intended for practitioners and academics in information systems, development, and conceptual modeling. Brelage studied Information Systems at the University of Münster and the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and has worked as a Research Assistant at the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS). His research focuses on web information systems, conceptual modeling, and information system development, culminating in a PhD in information systems obtained in November
