Summary Today there is a certain level of uncertainty, how the residual strength and durability of bonded structural joints is effected by the plastic deformation of the substrate especially under the latter environmental influence of humidity and corrosive media. Therefore the aim of the research project is to investigate the influence of plastic substrate deformation on the strength and durability of bonded joints, to reveal the damage mechanisms at the polymer-metal interface and to evaluate technologies that may carry the potential to improve the bond performance under such circumstances.
