Today's online services increasingly depend on disclosing private user information, raising significant privacy concerns. In response, privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) have emerged to help users make informed decisions about their data. However, these solutions are underutilized, primarily due to usability issues and the reluctance of service providers to integrate privacy features into their systems. This work introduces a user-centric privacy architecture designed to enable a provider-independent exchange of privacy-related information. Central to this architecture is a privacy community, functioning as an open source of information akin to Wikipedia, where users can collaboratively maintain and share insights about service providers, including ratings and data handling practices. Alongside this community, the architecture includes three user-friendly PET components that assist users before, during, and after sharing personal data. All components have been prototypically implemented and tested for usability, ensuring user acceptance. By addressing the limitations of existing PET solutions, this initiative significantly enhances the usability and independence of privacy tools, thereby promoting broader adoption and acceptance of measures that safeguard personal user data.
