“Families and Societies in Transition” was the theme of the 66 th Annual Convention of International Council of Psychologists in August 2008 in St. Petersburg, Russia. This conference dealt with different aspects and changes families and society have been undergoing around the world during the last decades. The International Council of Psychologists as an intercultural society fosters cross-cultural issues in theory and practice. The association meets every year discussing cross-cultural challenges and developments. This volume offers a collection of papers touching the main psychological themes and topics the world experiences today. The various chapters in this volume are drawn from paper presentations during the convention of the International Council of Psychologists in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2008. Viewed collectively the chapters in this volume call our attention to the full range of affective, cognitive, relational, social, and cultural dimensions of the human experience. This book also highlights the transition which families, societies and cultures around the world are currently undergoing. The International Council of Psychologists (ICP) holds a multi-cultural expertise to face the multitude of challenges around the globe and the experts in this council foster peaceful approaches to the diversity of the world.
