Born in 1955, artist Markus Wanger lives and works in Liechtenstein. The impressions of his numerous study tours find reflection in his works. Impressions from North America, South America, Asia, Brazil and many countries of Europe are reflected in his paintings that are rich in colour. Today, Markus Wanger paints almost exclusively in the 3-D-Structuralism technique invented and further developed by him. His painting technique was the first patented painting technique in the world; the patent was applied for and granted in European countries, the US and Hong Kong. An extraordinary penetration- or depth effect is achieved with the help of this innovative technique. Paintings created in 3-D-Structuralism offer brilliant colour compositions. They also offer a wide range of structures stretching from the graphic to the abstract. The colour composition is based Goethe’s rules of colours and may trigger varying impressions in the viewer. The structure can be experienced right through the colour. The colour can also be considered per se as image composition. The fusion of colour and structure elevates the total painting into a vivid experience for the viewer. A multiplicity of exhibitions both national and international, participation in international competitions and art exhibitions bear testimony to the artist’s multifarious activities. Different distinctions including a lifetime achievement award, several publications and colour prints have earned a discerning international audience for Markus Wanger.
