Gesund und gebildet

“Healthy and well educated” represent the two most relevant themes in modern German discussion. This volume illuminates the educational and medical systems as well as their meaning and relevance for a modern society. Health and education ensure quality of life and are investments in the future. But they also require great resources, while creating new resources at the same time; and they are seemingly always subject to crises. Both areas interact with each other: Educated citizens eat a healthy diet and are less prone to illness. Without a good educational system there can be no health, and without a functioning health system education cannot be properly maintained for future generations. Education and society must play a broader role in political agendas, which makes an interdisciplinary network for furthering both necessary.
