Solidarność - eine persönliche Geschichte

Anna Walentynowicz war eine der legendären Oppositionellen in der Volksrepublik Polen. Ihre Entlassung aus der Gdansker Werft am 14. August 1980 war Auslöser jener Streiks, die zur Gründung der Gewerkschaft Solidarnosc führten. Erstmals in die deutsche Sprache übersetzt und sorgfältig ediert, vermitteln Walentynowicz’ autobiographische Erinnerungen ein bisher unbekanntes Bild des volkspolnischen Alltags, der politischen Opposition sowie des Kampfes der Solidarnosc um Demokratie und Menschenrechte. Anna Walentynowicz was one of the legendary members of the opposition in the People’s Republic of Poland. Her dismissal from the Gdansk shipyard on 14th August, 1980, triggered the strike that led to the founding of the union Solidarnosc. Translated into German for the first time, and carefully edited, Walentynowicz’s autobiographical memoirs convey a hitherto unknown picture of everyday life in the People’s Republic, of the political opposition and the struggle led by Solidarnosc for democracy and human rights.
